Schleissing, Georg Adam 

Born circa 1660; died no earlier than 1694. German traveler.

Schleissing visited Russia between 1684 and 1686. He published the books Anatomy of a Deformed Russia (1688), Newly Discovered Siberia (1690), and The Ruling Council of Two Tsars in Russia (1694). His works contain a description of the natural conditions in Russia and of Russian cities, a sketch of the political history of the 1680’s, and descriptions of life, customs, and beliefs. Schleissing also published a map of Siberia and a reproduction of the first map of Siberia, which was compiled by P. I. Godunov in 1667 but which no longer exists.
