Schneider, Alexander (1908–93) violinist; born in Vilna, Lithuania. He had an orchestral career before fleeing the Nazis to the U.S.A. in 1933. He played chamber music, taught, and conducted widely, but is best known as second violin of the Budapest Quartet.
