Schooner Ernestina

Location: Exit 15 off Rt 195 to Route 118 South, then left at second traffic light to State Pier.
Facilities: Historic site.
Special Features: A designated National Historic Landmark, the schooner was built in 1894 at the James and Tarr Yard in Essex, Massachusetts and is one of six remaining Essex-built schooners. She reached within 600 miles of the North Pole and is the last ship to bring immigrants to this country under sail from the Cape Verde Islands.
