Schuster, Max (Lincoln) (1887–1970) publisher; born in Kalusz, Austria. In 1924, with his friend Richard Simon, he founded Simon and Schuster publishers, with $2,000 in joint capital. One of his contributions to the firm's early success was commissioning Will Durant to write his trend-setting popularization, The Story of Philosophy (1926). How to thank TFD for its existence?
