scissor jack

(mechanical engineering)
A lifting jack driven by a horizontal screw; the linkages of the jack are parallelograms whose horizontal diagonals are lengthened or shortened by the screw.

If your shelter expands to only one side, use one scissor jack.
You will probably need to raise your vehicle, which you could do by using a floor or scissor jack.
This piece of equipment might work on an empty vehicle, but once it is combat loaded and has force protection measures on it, the scissor jack is inadequate to elevate the HMMWV.
