Scott, John Paul (1909– ) animal behaviorist; born in Kansas City, Mo. He was a graduate assistant at the University of Chicago (1932–35), moved to Wabash College (1935–45), was a researcher and administrator at Jackson Memorial Laboratory, Maine (1945–65), then became a professor of psychology at Bowling Green State University (Ohio) (1965–80). An authority on the physiology of aggression, he applied his early interest in behavioral genetics of guinea pigs and fruit flies to the biology, social behavior, and genetics of dogs, mice, and other mammals. |
