Scott, Walter Edward (“Death Valley Scotty”) (1872–1954) mining prospector; born in (?) Cynthiana, Ky. His birthplace and early life were mysterious. He rode for Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show and convinced many people that he had discovered a rich gold mine in Death Valley. Supported and financed by the millionaire Albert M. Johnson, he built Scotty's Castle, which became a tourist attraction in Death Valley. How to thank TFD for its existence?
