Established: 1972.
Location: 58 miles east of Brunswick.
Special Features: Through it Project Puffin, the National Audubon Society successfully reintroduced Atlantic puffins to the island by transporting chicks from Newfoundland, Canada. Puffins now nest on the island after a 150 year absence, supporting more than 230 pairs.
Habitats: 65-acre tree-less island with rocky shores and grassy areas.
Access: Closed to the public.
Wild life: Puffins, common terns, arctic terns, common eiders, black guillemots, and harbor and gray seals.
