Web: www.seawaytrail.com Description: Trail through New York and Pennsylvania runs along the scenic shoreline of Lake Erie, the Niagara River, Lake Ontario, and the Saint Lawrence River. New York section of the byway includes a mixture of historic sites, lighthouses, scenic landscapes, large cities, and quaint villages. The shores of Lake Ontario and Lake Erie also offer lots of opportunities for water-based recreation. Among the areas of interest include the 20-mile Chautauqua-Lake Erie Wine Trail, the Dunkirk Historical Lighthouse, Fort Niagara State Historic Park, Fort Ontario State Historic Site, Harriet Tubman's Home, Niagara Falls, the Strong Museum & National Toy Hall of Fame, Theodore Roosevelt Inaugural Historic Site, Thousand Islands, and the cities of Buffalo and Rochester.
Legth: 454 (New York section); 518 miles (entire byway). Start/Endpoint: New York section of byway runs from the Pennsylvania state line near Ripley along the shores of Lake Erie, then north along the Niagara River to the shores of Lake Ontario. From there it follows the entire southern and eastern shore of Lake Ontario to Cape Vincent and then runs along the Saint Lawrence River to its northern terminus at Rooseveltown, near the Canadian border. Designation/Year: National Scenic Byway (1996).
