Seaway Trail Scenic Byway - Pennsylvania Address: c/o Erie Area Convention & Visitors Bureau 208 East Bayfront Parkway, Suite 103 Erie, PA 16507 Phone: 800-524-3743; Web: www.visiteriepa.com Description: Trail through New York and Pennsylvania runs along the scenic shoreline of Lake Erie, the Niagara River, Lake Ontario, and the Saint Lawrence River. Hugging the shore of Lake Erie, the Pennsylvania section of the byway features three state parks, including Presque Isle State Park, which is located on a peninsula in Lake Erie. Here visitors can enjoy fishing, swimming, windsurfing, and kayaking, as well as a visit to the War of 1812 historic site. The park is the rest stop for more than 320 species of migratory birds. Byway also includes several lighthouses and vineyards, some of which are available for tours. Legth: 64 miles (Pennsylvania section); 518 miles (entire byway). Start/Endpoint: The Pennsylvania section of the trail begins at the Ohio state line on US 20 and runs east along the shores of Lake Erie, primarily along PA 5, to the New York state line. The byway includes a spur route around the perimeter of Presque Isle in a 14 mile loop. Designation/Year: National Scenic Byway (2005). See other parks in Pennsylvania.
