It is a fact that second hand smoke (also known as environmental tobacco smoke or ETS) is a major cause of children's illness.
We know that second hand smoke has been proven to cause cancer and many other health problems among people, there is now research being done to see how it affects household pets.
Fiona Dunlop, acting director of Fresh, campaigning for a smoke-free North East, said: "We have serious concerns about the proposed exemptions from the legislation that leave a significant proportion of the most vulnerable workers exposed to the health effects of second hand smoke.
