S/MIME - S/MIME is an acronym that stands for Secure Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions, and this is a standard that is used for signing email and public key encryption of email that is encapsulated in MIME.
During the test, two encryption solutions were examined, a version of the Secure Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions (S/MIME) for RIM devices, and Voltage Security's Enterprise Privacy Management platform using Identity Based Encryption (IBE), which provides enhancements for S/MIME messaging.
CryptOS and NetSign provide an interface to smart card readers, such as SCM Microsystems' SwapSmart, adding hardware strength cryptography and enhancing software technologies such as Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) and Secure Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions (S/MIME).
