STA
(STAtion) Any client device in a network. In a wireless network, the STA typically communicates with the AP (access point). The term STA was coined for local area networks (LANs) and migrated to wireless networks. However, the term is a bit counter intuitive for wireless networks, because the access point is a "base station." See wireless LAN and access point.
