Seger cone [′zā·gər ‚kōn]
(materials) Any of a series of conical shaped thermometric devices made of materials that deform at specified temperatures; consists of mixtures of clay, salt, and other materials in such proportions that their softening temperatures vary progressively through the series; used to indicate temperatures of furnaces, particularly in ceramic industries.
