Segre

Segre 

a river in Spain, with its upper course in France; a left tributary of the Ebro River. The Segre is 265 km long and drains an area of 22,400 sq km. It rises in the Eastern Pyrenees and flows primarily through an area of mountains and hills. The Segre is at high water during cold periods of the year; the average flow rate is approximately 250 cu m per sec. The basin has reservoirs and hydroelectric power plants, including Tabescan and the Tremp and Camarasa reservoirs; the river is used for irrigation. The city of Lérida is situated on the Segre.

Senior author Julia Segre and her colleagues used swabs to gather bacterial samples from 10 racially diverse volunteers, half men and half women.
Study leader Dr Julia Segre, of the National Human Genome Research Institute in the US, said: "Our work has laid an essential foundation for researchers aiming to treat or prevent skin diseases.
We hope this will speed efforts to understand the complex genetic and environmental factors involved in eczema, psoriasis, acne, antibiotic-resistant infections and many other disorders affecting the skin," Segre added.
