Seillière, Ernest, Baron (ĕrnĕst` bärôN` sāyĕr`), 1866–1955, French critic and philosopher. He is best known as an opponent of romanticism and for his philosophy of "imperialism." His theories were expounded in many works, notably in La Philosophie de l'impérialisme (4 vol., 1903–8). A collection of his essays was translated as Romanticism (1929).
