Salamiyah 

a city in northwestern Syria, in Hama Province. Highway junction. Population, 21,700 (1970). Salamiyah has a food industry. Grain and cotton are grown in the vicinity, and sheep are raised.

In later mosques complexes built by Sinan such as the Shezade (1543-48), Suleymane (1550-55), Selemiye (1569-72), the projection of the dome take place from symmetrically placed columns to allow for considerable increases in the diagonal span of the dome.
