Serial architecture connections consist of a single pair of transmission signals that contain an embedded clock for self-clocking, enabling the clock speed to be easily scaled and to wrap data bits into individual packets to achieve data transfers up to 30 times faster than what parallel technology can provide. The XT11 family members utilize a proprietary self-clocking circuit that eliminates the need for an external highly accurate, complex clocking scheme. An important differentiation is that all serial interfaces are self-clocking, so unlike parallel SCSI, data rates can be pushed higher and higher. |
