Seliverstova, Valentina Mikhailovna
Born Dec. 24, 1926, in Omsk. Soviet parachutist. Honored Master of Sports (1954); International Grandmaster (1966). Member of the CPSU since 1952. Seliverstova graduated from the Omsk Physical Culture Institute in 1958. In various forms of sport parachuting she was women’s champion of the world in 1954, 1964, and 1966 and women’s champion of the USSR ten times between 1952 and 1965. She has received approximately 100 medals in parachuting, including 66 gold medals. Seliverstova is the world’s first woman to have made more than 3,000 jumps; she has established 49 world records.
