Seman
a river in Albania, formed by the confluence of the Osum and Devoll rivers, which originate on the western slopes of the Gramsh mountain range. The Seman is 85 km long (from the source of the Devoll, 266 km long) and drains an area of approximately 6,000 sq km. It flows over the Albanian lowland in a wide, winding, and occasionally swampy valley, emptying into the Adriatic Sea. Freshets occur in winter and spring. The Seman’s waters are used for irrigation.
