Semenikhin, Vladimir Sergeevich 

Born Jan. 27 (Feb. 9), 1918, in the city of Sumy. Soviet scientist specializing in automation and remote control. Academician of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (1972; corresponding member, 1968). Member of the CPSU since 1945.

Semenikhin graduated from the Moscow Power Engineering Institute in 1941 and worked in the design offices of instrument-making plants. He has directed scientific research organizations since 1963. In 1966, Semenikhin became a professor at the Moscow Institute of Radio Engineering, Electronics, and Automation. From 1971 to 1974 he was deputy minister of the radio industry.

Semenikhin’s principal works deal with automated control systems and special instrument design. Semenikhin has been awarded the Order of Lenin, the Order of the October Revolution, three other orders, and various medals.
