Senonian Superstage
a subdivision of the Upper Cretaceous. The Senonian superstage was identified as a stage in 1842 by the French geologist A. d’Orbigny. Later the deposits corresponding to the Senonian stage were subdivided into the Coniacin, Santonian, Campanian, and Maestrichtian stages, and the term “Senonian stage” was used to signify a superstage.
