Sepp, Evgenii Konstantinovich 

Born Sept. 5 (17), 1878, in Zemliansk, in what is now Voronezh Oblast: died Nov. 10, 1957, in Moscow. Soviet neuropathologist. Academician of the Academy of Medical Sciences of the USSR (1944). Member of the CPSU from 1939.

In 1904, Sepp graduated from the medical faculty of Moscow University, where he had been a student of V. K. Rot. He received a professorship in 1913. Six years later he was appointed vice-chancellor of the Higher Medical School. He became head of the subdepartment of neurological diseases at the First Moscow State University, called the First Moscow Medical Institute since 1930.

Sepp did research in epilepsy, hysteria, neurological traumatic injuries, blood circulation in the brain, pathohistology, and the evolution of the nervous system. In 1937 he described the quadrigeminal-plate reflex and its development in man. He also worked out a staining method that simultaneously revealed nerve cells and fibers in nerve tissue. Sepp was awarded the Order of Lenin, two other orders, and various medals.
