Set Maquette
a model that reproduces on a certain scale the spatial organization and decoration of a scene to be staged in a future performance. It is made according to the sketches of a set designer. A set maquette indicates visually the entire stage area, the acting area, and the set. On the basis of the maquette, full-scale drawings of the scenery are prepared. A set maquette for each scene is placed within a similarly scaled model of the stage box of a theater with the necessary stage elements (proscenium arch, wings, hoisting equipment, turntable). Set maquettes may lack elaboration of detail or may be extremely de-tailed, depicting each scene in full. Want to thank TFD for its existence?
