Sewa River

River, Sierra Leone. Formed by the junction of the Bagbe and Bafi rivers, it flows 150 mi (240 km) to join the Waanje River and form the Kittam, which empties into the Atlantic Ocean. The country's most important commercial river, it is extensively panned for diamonds.

5 km section of the Sewa River represents one of the last major portions of the river on which relatively little mining has occurred.
E[acute accent]The Hima licence is located on the Sewa River just at and below a significant knickpoint some 70 kilometers downstream from the historically rich diamond fields of the Kono-Koidu area.
The Hima license (EPL 1/94) on the Sewa River may represent a finite source of alluvial diamonds estimated at 1,800,000 carats ("Hall, 1966"), which has never been commercially mined.
