Khudaiberdin, Shagit Akhmetovich 

Born 1896 in the village of Psianchino, now Khudaiberdino, Iumaguzino Raion, Bashkir ASSR; died Dec. 21, 1924, in Moscow. A leader of the struggle for Soviet power in Bashkiria. Soviet state figure. Member of the Communist Party from 1918.

The son of a peasant, Khudaiberdin became a worker. During the October Days of 1917, he belonged to the revolutionary committee and revolutionary tribunal of Ufa Province. He was a member of the collegium of the Central Muslim Commissariat and fought in the Civil War of 1918–20. In 1921 he became chairman of the Central Executive Committee of the Bashkir ASSR (Little Bashkiria) and secretary of the Bashkir oblast committee of the RCP(B); he became deputy chairman of the Council of People’s Commissars of the Bashkir ASSR (Great Bashkiria) in 1922.

Khudaiberdin was a delegate to the Tenth and Eleventh Congresses of the RCP(B) and took part in the suppression of the Kronstadt Anti-Soviet Rebellion of 1921. He served on both the All-Russian Central Executive Committee and the Central Executive Committee of the USSR. Khudaiberdin was awarded the Order of the Red Banner.
