Shakaishugi Kyokai
(Socialist Society), one of the first Social Democratic organizations in Japan. Shakaishugi Kyokai was founded by Katayama Sen, Kotoku Denjiro, and Sakai Toshihiko in February 1900 to replace Shakaishugi Kenkyukai (Society for the Study of Socialism). In May 1901, Shakaishugi Kyokai attempted to create a Japanese Social Democratic party, Shakai Minshuto. Shakaishugi Kyokai propounded socialist ideas in Japan. It was banned by the government in November 1904. Want to thank TFD for its existence?
