Shalikov, Petr Ivanovich 

Born 1767; died Feb. 16 (28), 1852, in Serpukhov District, Moscow Province. Prince. Russian writer and journalist.

Shalikov’s collections of verse The Fruit of Free Feelings (parts 1–3, 1798–1801) and The Flowers of the Graces (1802) and his prose works Journey to Little Russia (1803–04) and Journey to Kronstadt (1805) evince a sentimentalism similar to that of Karamzin. As publisher of the magazines Moskovskii zrilel’ (1806), Aglaia (1808–12), and Damskii zhurnal (1823–33), Shalikov took a reactionary stance. Shalikov edited the newspaper Moskovskie vedomosti for 25 years.
