| Back in 2004 the two companies announced this collaborative program, wherein the two would jointly design, engineer and test the automatic transmission, then separately build them (in Ford's case at its Van Dyke [Sterling Heights, Ml] and Sharonville [OH] transmission plants). manufacturing facility in Sharonville, OH, to increase production capacity by about 50% and enable the manufacture of additional products. A total of $720 million will be spent to update three existing transmission facilities--two Ford (in Sterling Heights, MI and Sharonville, OH) and one GM (in Warren, MI)--with new equipment, tooling and more room. |
