Sharpless catalog

(sharp -liss) A catalog of bright H II regions visible on the Palomar Sky Survey plates, compiled by Sharpless in 1959. Sources are known by their Sharpless number; for example, S106 is a small bipolar nebula in the direction of Cygnus.
