Shear waves can be hindered by as much as 30 percent. The DSU3 428XL captures the full seismic wave -- both shear wave and P-wave -- enabling geological events to be captured that would be missed with conventional P-wave sensors. Now, Jeannot Trampert of Utrecht University in the Netherlands and his colleagues report that they have observed shear waves passing through the inner core. |
