shipwright [′ship‚rīt]
(civil engineering)
A worker whose responsibility is to ensure that the structure of a ship is straight and true and to the designed dimensions; the work starts with the laying down of the keel blocks and continues throughout the steelwork; applicable also to wood ship builders.
