Shittim

Shittim (shĭt`ĭm), in the Bible, last place in which the Israelites encamped before reaching the Holy Land. It was E of Jericho. An alternate form is Abel-shittim. The valley of Shittim of the Book of Joel is not the same place.

Old Testament the site to the east of the Jordan and northeast of the Dead Sea where the Israelites encamped before crossing the Jordan (Numbers 25:1--9)
