Ando, Shoeki
Born approximately 1700; died approximately 1760. Japanese thinker. In his works (True Principles of Nature and others) Ando sharply criticized the social orders of feudal Japan and exposed the exploitation of the peasantry. He also portrayed a society in which there would be neither private property nor the exploitation of man by man. In his philosophical views, he was a materialist and an atheist.
