Short, Bobby

    0.01 sec.
Short, (Robert W.) Bobby (1926–  ) singer, pianist; born in Danville, Ill. Working in obscurity in clubs, he first found success in 1968 with the recording of a concert with Mabel Mercer and his long-term engagement at the Cafe Carlyle, both in New York. He sparked a revival of Cole Porter's music with a series of albums in the 1970s in which he interpreted various composers' music. With his casual but intimate renditions, he remained the quintessential cafe/supper-club singer of his time.
