Shushan

Shushan (sh`shăn): see Susa Susa , ancient city, capital of Elam. The site is 15 mi (23 km) SW of modern Dizful, Iran. It is the biblical Shushan, and its inhabitants were called Susanchites. From the 4th millennium B.C., Elam was under the cultural influence of Mesopotamia.

Temperatures in the Faghur Basin are much cooler than the Shushan Basin, the location of the Jurassic Qasr field, Apache's largest field; thus, a large portion of the Faghur Basin is oil-bearing, as opposed to the hotter-temperature, gas-bearing Shushan Basin.
In August of 2007, an invasive species of algae Didymosphenia geminata, dba "rock snot," proved to have gained footholds near Shushan, NY, and West Arlington in Vermont.
