Siberian Crab Apple 

any one of several winter-hardy apple species, including Malus baccata and M. pallasiana. The apples grow in the USSR (Siberia and the Far East), China, Mongolia, and Japan. In fruit raising they are used as stocks for selection purposes. The small fruits are used as food despite their low quality in terms of taste.
