side-effect - A language construct that modifies the state of the system. The most common side-effects are assignment, input and output. A language without side-effects is purely-functional - execution consists of the evaluation of an expression and all subexpressions are referentially transparent.

This independent prospective, cross-over, observational, and open-label study assessed efficacy, patients' preference, and the side-effect profile of sildenafil, tadalafil, and vardenafil in the same population.
In a placebo-controlled study involving 296 patients, carbinoxamine maleate 4 mg (Palgic) was found to be an effective single-agent antihistamine with a low side-effect profile.
Each serious side-effect requires medical care, such as vaccinia immunoglobulin, hospitalization, or a number of visits to a physician's office.
