Siegmeister, Elie (1909–91) composer; born in New York City. After studies in New York and with Nadia Boulanger in France, he taught at Hofstra University (New York) from 1949. His music involves an individual adaptation of modernist ideas, with a strong nationalistic element. He also wrote introductory texts on music. |
