Born Mar. 20, 1861, in Stockholm; died there on Feb. 7, 1943. Swedish opera singer (lyric coloratura soprano). Member of the Swedish Academy of Music (1910).

Arnoldson studied singing under her father, O. Arnoldson, and F. Arlberg in Stockholm, M. Strakosch in Paris, and D. Artôt in Berlin. She made her debut as a concert singer in 1882 and as an opera singer in 1885. She sang in the largest opera houses of Western Europe and the USA; she also went on tour in Moscow and St. Petersburg. After 1911 she retired from the stage. During the years 1922–38 she taught in Vienna. She performed almost all the roles in the classical repertoire including Susanna and Zerlina (Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro and Don Giovanni), Carmen and Micaela (Bizet’s Carmen), Mignon (in the opera of that name by Thomas), Violetta (Verdi’s La Traviata), and Lakmé (in the work of that name by Delibes).
