a breed of rabbits raised for meat and fur. The silver rabbit was developed in 1952 at the Petrovsk (Poltava Oblast) and Tula (Tula Oblast) fur-farming sovkhozes. The breed was obtained from the Champagne breed. The mean liveweight is 4.5 kg (maximum 6.3 kg). A litter contains six to eight young.
