Simeonov, Konstantin Arsen’evich 

Born June 7 (20), 1910, in the village of Koznakovo, in what is now Kalinin Oblast. Soviet conductor. People’s Artist of the USSR (1962).

Simeonov graduated from the Leningrad Conservatory in 1936; he was a student of A. V. Gauk and I. A. Musin. He has appeared as a symphony conductor in Leningrad, Petrozavodsk, Minsk, and Kiev. From 1961 to 1966, and from 1975 to 1976, Simeonov was principal conductor at the Ukrainian Theater of Opera and Ballet in Kiev; from 1966 to 1975 he was principal conductor at the Leningrad Theater of Opera and Ballet. He has toured abroad and has conducted at La Scala in Milan. Simeonov won first prize at the All-Union Review of Young Conductors in 1946 in Leningrad. He has been awarded two orders and various medals.
