Siniavskii, Vadim Sviatoslavovich 

Born July 28 (Aug. 10), 1906, in Smolensk; died July 3, 1972, in Moscow. Soviet journalist and radio commentator; founder of the Soviet school of sports broadcasting. Member of the CPSU from 1945.

From 1924 to 1972, Siniavskii worked at the All-Union Radio. During the period between the 1930’s to the 1950’s his sports broadcasting won general recognition. During the Great Patriotic War (1941—45) he broadcast reports from the front. Siniavskii was awarded three orders and several medals. [23–1320–]
