Situla

an ancient bronze vessel in the shape of a pail. Situlae have been found in archaeological sites of the Hallstatt and La Tène cultures of the early Iron Age of Western Europe. Early situlae have a rounded body and two attached handles. Later examples have a conical body that widens toward the top and a movable arched handle over the mouth. Situlae were sometimes decorated with various pictures portrayed in relief.
