Sivkov, Grigorii Flegontovich 

Born Feb. 10, 1921, in the village of Martynovo, in what is now Kungur Raion, Perm’ Oblast. Twice Hero of the Soviet Union (Feb. 4, 1944, and Aug. 18, 1945). Pilot of ground-attack aircraft; engineer colonel (1956). Member of the CPSU since 1943.

Sivkov graduated from the Military Aviation School in 1940 and the N. E. Zhukovskii Air Force Engineering Academy in 1952. He served in the Great Patriotic War (1941-45) from December 1941 as a pilot, flight commander, deputy squadron commander, and squadron commander and as navigator of the 210th Air Assault Regiment on the Southern, North Caucasian, Transcaucasian, and Third Ukrainian fronts. He flew more than 240 combat missions.

After the war, Sivkov was a senior test pilot. He later taught and did research, becoming a subdepartment head in December 1972.

Sivkov has been awarded the Order of Lenin, three Orders of the Red Banner, the Order of the Patriotic War first class, the Order of Alexander Nevsky, the Order of the Red Star, and various medals. [23–1018–]
