Sizer, Theodore R.

Sizer, Theodore R. (Ryland) (1932–  ) educator; born in New Haven, Conn. He directed Harvard's Master of Arts in Teaching program (1961–64) and was dean of the graduate school of education at Harvard (1964–72). He was professor of education at Brown University (1984) and chairman of the Coalition of Essential Schools (1984). He wrote Horace's Compromise (1984) and Horace's School: Redesigning the American High School (1992).
