Sizov, Gennadii Fedorovich 

Born Jan. 23 (Feb. 5), 1903, in the village of Zhilino, in what is now Krasnosel’skii Raion, Kostroma Oblast. Soviet party and state figure. Member of the CPSU since 1926.

The son of peasants, Sizov studied at a workers’ school in Kostroma from 1922 to 1925 and served in the Soviet Army in 1925 and 1926. He graduated from the K. A. Timiriazev Moscow Agricultural Academy in 1930 and served as a department chairman and director of the Moscow Institute of Dairy Animal Husbandry from 1930 to 1933. Between 1933 and 1941, Sizov worked in Western Siberia, occupying a variety of posts: director of a livestock-breeding sovkhoz, department head of a sovkhoz trust, head of a group of dairy sovkhozes, deputy supervisor of a sovkhoz administration, director of a trust of livestock-breeding sovkhozes, deputy director of the agricultural section of the Novosibirsk Oblast Committee of the ACP(B), and head of the Novosibirsk Oblast Land Department. Sizov served in the Soviet Army from 1941 to 1947 and fought in the Great Patriotic War (1941—45).

From 1947 to 1951, Sizov was director of a sovkhoz trust. From 1951 to 1954 he served as head of the agricultural department of the Kurgan Oblast Committee of the CPSU and as second secretary of the committee. He was chairman of the Kurgan Oblast Executive Committee from 1954 to 1955 and first secretary of the Kurgan Oblast Committee of the CPSU from 1955 to 1966. In 1963 and 1964 he was first secretary of the Kurgan Rural Oblast Committee of the CPSU. He became chairman of the Central Auditing Commission of the CPSU in April 1966.

A delegate to the Twentieth through Twenty-fifth Congresses of the CPSU, Sizov was a candidate member of the Central Committee from 1956 to 1964, a member of the Central Committee of the CPSU from November 1964 to April 1966, and a deputy to the fifth through ninth Convocations of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR. He has been awarded two Orders of Lenin, the Order of the October Revolution, five other orders, and various medals.
