Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken 

a major commercial joint-stock bank in Sweden, founded in January 1972 through the merger of the Skandinaviska Banken (founded 1864) and the Stockholms Enskilda Bank (1856).

The Skandinaviska Enskilda Bank is a full-service bank. In 1974 it had about 400 branches and three regional offices in Sweden, as well as representative offices in Spain, France, Japan, and Brazil. It also has holdings in multinational consortium banks, having contributed 14 percent of the subscribed capital of the Scandinavian Bank (London), 14 percent of the Banque Scandinave en Suisse (Geneva), 14 percent of the World Banking Corporation (Nassau, Bahamas), and 50 percent of the Deutsch-Skandinavische Bank (Frankfurt am Main). At the end of 1974, the Scandinaviska Enskilda Banken had assets of 38 billion kronas, deposits of 21.6 billion kronas, loans of 19.5 billion kronas, and total capital, including reserves, of 1.2 billion kronas.
