Slánský, Rudolf 

Born July 31, 1901, in Nezvĕstice; died Dec. 3, 1952, in Prague. Figure in the labor movement in Czechoslovakia.

Slánský joined the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia (CPC) in 1921 and became a member of the Central Committee in 1929. From 1939 to 1944 he was part of the CPC leadership, which was then in Moscow. In 1944, along with a group of communists, including J. Šverma, he was sent by the leadership of the CPC to Slovakia to take part in the Slovak National Uprising of 1944. From 1945 to 1951, Slánský was general secretary of the CPC. [23–1648–]
