Sleeping Giant State Park Location: 2 miles north of Hamden off Route 10. Facilities: Youth group camping areas (written application required), picnic shelter, picnic tables (é), hiking trails, nature trail, bathrooms, observation tower, scenic vista. Activities: Stream fishing, hiking. Special Features: The "sleeping giant" is a 2-mile stretch of mountain top resembling a large man lying in repose. A 1.5 mile scenic trail leads to the stone observation tower on the peak of Mount Carmel, affording excellent views of Long Island Sound and the New Haven area. Park is a designated Trout Park.
